Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about VisibleForAI and AI visibility.
What does VisibleForAI do?
VisibleForAI tests what AI assistants actually know about your brand across up to 6 AI models (ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama, Perplexity, Claude, and Grok). We show you whether AI recognizes you, recommends you, or confuses you with competitors. You get a full score breakdown, competitor analysis, content toolkit, and weekly monitoring.
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO is the practice of optimizing your brand and website so AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini can understand, cite, and recommend your business. While SEO focuses on search engine rankings, GEO focuses on getting your business mentioned when users ask AI assistants for recommendations.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO focuses on ranking in traditional search results (Google, Bing). GEO focuses on being recommended by AI assistants. When someone asks ChatGPT 'What's the best tool for X?', GEO determines whether your business gets mentioned. Both are important for modern digital visibility.
What is an AI visibility score?
A 0-100 score measuring how well AI models know and recommend your brand. We test across up to 6 AI models and score factors including recognition, accuracy, competitive positioning, and sentiment. Higher scores mean AI is more likely to recommend you accurately.
What is a brand check vs a website scan vs a product check?
A brand check tests what AI models know about your brand by name — recognition, accuracy, competitors, sentiment, and entity attribution. A website scan analyzes your site for AI readiness — GEO score, schema health, AI crawler access, E-E-A-T checklist, and optimization tips. A product check tests whether AI recommends your specific products when users ask for the best in your category. All three work together: your website feeds data to AI, brand checks show if that data is getting through, and product checks verify your products are being recommended.
What is the AI Reality Check?
We query ChatGPT, Gemini, and Llama directly about your business and compare their responses against verified facts from your website. You see exactly what each AI knows, what it gets wrong, and what it makes up entirely. Wrong founding year, misattributed products, invented partnerships — we flag every hallucination with a per-model breakdown and generate correction content you can deploy to fix the record.
Which AI systems does VisibleForAI test?
We test your brand across 6 AI platforms: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Llama, Perplexity, Claude, and Grok. All plans include ChatGPT, Gemini, and Llama. Plus plans add Perplexity and Claude, Pro adds Grok — so you can see how every major AI perceives your brand. Our optimization strategies work across all these platforms.
Do I need a website to use VisibleForAI?
No. You can add a brand with just your brand name, industry, and location. We'll test what AI knows about you right away. Adding a website is optional — it unlocks website scanning, GEO scoring, and implementation files to improve your AI visibility.
How does weekly monitoring work?
We automatically check your brands every week and detect changes in AI perception — score shifts, new competitors appearing, and knowledge decay. All paid plans include weekly monitoring, with alerts when your score changes and share-of-voice trends over time.
What are products and how do they work?
Products are tracked under your brand. Add individual products to see if AI recommends them when users ask 'What's the best [category]?' Each product gets its own visibility score, competitor analysis, and product kit with optimized descriptions, Schema.org markup, and marketplace positioning guides.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. You can cancel anytime from your Settings page. Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period — you won't lose access immediately.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit/debit cards, PayPal, and other local payment methods through our payment provider Paddle. Paddle handles all payment processing securely.
What is entity hijacking and how does VisibleForAI protect against it?
Entity hijacking is when AI models confuse your brand with competitors, attribute your products to others, or state incorrect facts about your business. Our Entity Defense Kit generates disambiguation content and defensive FAQs you can publish on your own site and third-party profiles to reinforce the correct facts (AI providers don't offer public correction portals, so the durable fix is strengthening the sources AI reads).
What is hallucination detection?
We compare what AI models say about your brand against verified facts from your website. When AI states something incorrect — wrong founding year, misattributed products, made-up partnerships — we flag it and generate correction content you can deploy.
What is the AI Crawler Audit?
We check whether your website allows or blocks 8 major AI crawlers: GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Googlebot, Bingbot, and CCBot. If any are blocked, we generate a corrected robots.txt you can deploy immediately.
What is the Brand Kit and Product Kit?
The Brand Kit generates AI-ready content: brand boilerplate (1-sentence, 1-paragraph, and full version), FAQ answers, correction guides for wrong AI facts, and per-AI playbooks for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. The Product Kit generates optimized descriptions, product FAQs, Schema.org markup, and marketplace positioning guides. Both are available on Plus and Pro plans.
What is Knowledge Decay?
Over time, AI models can forget facts they previously knew about your brand — especially after retraining. We detect this by comparing current brand checks against previous ones and generate re-assertion content (llms.txt additions, FAQs, blog post suggestions) to reinforce forgotten information.
How does Competitor Attribution Monitoring work?
We analyze AI responses for attribution errors — when AI gives your products or capabilities to a competitor, or vice versa. For each issue found, we generate a defensive FAQ you can add to your site to correct the record.
What is Share of Voice?
Share of Voice measures what percentage of AI responses mention your brand versus competitors when users ask about your industry. It's tracked weekly on Plus and Pro plans.
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan includes 1 brand with 1 brand check per month and a preview of your AI visibility score, rating, and competitor count. Upgrade to a paid plan to add website scanning, more AI models, the content toolkit, and weekly monitoring.
Why is my brand invisible to AI assistants?
Your brand is invisible to AI when assistants have no clear, structured, citable record of who you are — so they skip you or recommend a competitor they do understand. It isn't that AI dislikes your brand; the entity-level facts (what you do, who you serve, what makes you different) aren't legible to the model. VisibleForAI shows you which AI models recognize you today and generates the exact facts and files to make you legible to them.
How do I make ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Perplexity recommend my brand?
Publish clear, citable, well-structured facts about your brand, reinforce them across the sources AI trusts, then monitor — because AI answers change as models retrain. In practice: lead each page with a direct answer, add statistics and cited sources (the Princeton GEO study found these lift visibility by up to 40%), publish structured data (JSON-LD) and an llms.txt file, and strengthen third-party signals like Wikipedia, Reddit, and review sites. VisibleForAI generates these files for you and tracks whether each model starts recommending you.
Does GEO actually work, or is it just hype?
GEO is backed by peer-reviewed research, not just marketing — a Princeton-led study tested optimization methods across thousands of AI-answer queries and found visibility gains of up to 40%, with 'add statistics' and 'cite sources' as the top techniques. It works best for smaller and lower-ranked sites, which saw the largest gains. That said, GEO is a moving target: results vary by model and query and shift as models retrain, which is why VisibleForAI pairs one-time fixes with weekly monitoring.
Is traditional search really being replaced by AI?
Not replaced, but materially eroded — Gartner predicts traditional search engine volume will fall about 25% by 2026 as users move queries to AI chatbots, and traffic from generative-AI sources to retail sites grew roughly 1,200% year-over-year in early 2025 (Adobe Analytics). The practical takeaway: you still need SEO, but ignoring AI visibility means being absent from a fast-growing share of buyer journeys.
